As social investor, we provide up-front and sustained funding for girls education including the Butterfly Project, a remote Kenyan boarding school that educates not only girls from nearby villages that would otherwise never no literacy, but nurtures and educates girls recused from sex-trafficking, child labor and genital mutilations. Founded 20 years ago by American Sha Givens today the school boards 164 girls and now 33 boys. The Butterfly school is recognized by the Kenyan government and UNCF for its transcendent development of students eligible for employment as well as college.
Proliferating Urban Farming
Will Allen, the son of a sharecropper, former professional basketball player, ex-corporate sales leader and is founder and CEO of Growing Power Inc. Will has become recognized as one of our preeminent thinkers on agriculture and food policy and is a leading authority in the expanding field of urban agriculture. In 2008, Allen was named was awarded a prestigious John D. and Katherine T. McArthur Foundation Fellow “genius grant” for his work – only the second farmer ever to be so honored.
Environmental Justice Defense Institute
Dr. Robert Bullard is often referred to as the “father of the environmental justice movement.” One of the leading voices on the issue for decades, he was named one of Newsweek’s 13 “Environmental Leaders of the Century”. In 2013, he was the first African American to be honored with the Sierra Club John Muir Award. Dr Bullard has authored numerous books on the prominence of waste facilities in predominately African-American areas all over the nation, as well as others that address urban land use, industrial facility siting, housing, transportation, climate justice, emergency response, smart growth, and equity.

Prevent the spread of the virus: educating communities regarding signs, symptoms, transmission, and preventative measures like hand hygiene and social distancing – including supporting livelihoods to make social distancing possible.

Detect cases as they emerge: supporting frontline health organizations to identify symptoms, and also help facilitate testing.

Respond as the situation unfolds: increasing capacity for emergency treatment among health organizations and making sure primary health services remain functional.
Samantha Harris and Davon Scott aspiring pediatrician and orthopedic surgeons respectively are medical students at Loma Linda University. Sharing a passion for children, they have co-authored Why We Stay Home, a picture book to aid parents in explaining and children in understanding why we are staying home and practicing social distancing during a "pandemic". This free book has been downloaded over 50,000 times internationally.
